UPDATE: Fortnite fans have been treated to a look at this weekend’s Death Star Sabotage event.
The new trailer made its debut during the Summer Game Fest event. As you can see from the video below, the event features on foot and aerial battles.
ORIGINAL: Fortnite developer Epic Games is getting ready to hold an end of season event to celebrate the finale of the short-lived Star Wars season.
Available for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch (and Nintendo Switch 2), Android and PC, the Fortnite Death Star Sabotage event has a June 7 release date and a 7pm BST start time for fans living in the UK. That’s 2pm ET for fans living in the US.
Epic Games will preview the event with the release of a special Death Star Sabotage trailer during the imminent Summer Game Fest presentation at 10pm BST on June 6. Daily Express will update this article with the full trailer when it goes live. In the meantime, check out the Death Star Sabotage teaser trailer below.
According to Epic Games, the end of season event will see players rally against Emperor Palpatine and the Death Star.
“At Emperor Palpatine’s command, the Death Star’s superlaser is charged and ready to decimate the Battle Royale Island.
“But there’s still hope! Join the fight in the Season-ending live event Death Star Sabotage on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2 PM ET!”
Needless to say, Fortnite live events are extremely popular, which means Epic Games recommends logging in early to avoid any matchmaking queues and delays.
The Death Star Sabotage event will actually have a prominent position on the Discover queue from 5pm BST UK time.
“Jump in and pilot an X-wing or Imperial TIE fighter while you get ready for the event to begin — once the countdown reaches zero, you’ll be on your way to Death Star Sabotage!” Epic continues.
As Epic points out, the event supports parties of up to four players. Players unable to access a PC or console can also play the event on Android devices, as well as iOS devices in the US. Players from the EU can access Fortnite via the Epic Games Store.
As an added bonus, anybody who logs into Fortnite from now until June 10 will receive some bonus Star Wars items.
This includes the Assault on the Death Star Loading Screen and the Captain Phasma Quicksilver Baton Spear Pickaxe.
In the run up to the end of season event, fans can jump into the Star Destroyer and decimate the opposition from above.
As players will have noticed, a rift gate will spawn at the start of Zero Build and Battle Royale matches. If you’re quick you can enter the rift and transport to the Star Destroyer, where you’ll be able to use its powerful lasers.
The Death Star Sabotage will bring the season to an end (although probably not until Sunday morning). This means you only have a few hours left to unlock all of the Battle Pass rewards.
Based on recent leaks, the next Fortnite season will have a superhero theme. Epic Games is yet to officially announce downtime and dates, but expect the season to begin on the morning of June 8.
