Monday night at Regal Union Square, Apple TV+ celebrated the world premiere of its highly anticipated sci-fi comedic thriller “Murderbot,” starring Alexander Skarsgård. Created by Academy Award nominees Chris and Paul Weitz, the 10-episode series stars Emmy Award winner Alexander Skarsgård, who also serves as executive producer. “Murderbot” will premiere on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, May 16, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 11, 2025.

Attendees at the “Murderbot” red carpet premiere included Alexander Skarsgård, creators and showrunners Chris and Paul Weitz, and series stars Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones and Tamara Podemski.

Based on Martha Wells’ bestselling Hugo and Nebula Award-winning book series “The Murderbot Diaries,” “Murderbot” is a sci-fi thriller/comedy about a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Played by Skarsgård, Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

Apple TV+ offers premium, compelling drama and comedy series, feature films, groundbreaking documentaries, and kids and family entertainment, and is available to watch across all of a user’s favorite screens.
