While the FF14 Cosmic Exploration feature is finally here, it’s not what I’m most excited about from patch 7.21. Yes, we can head to the Source’s moon and help our server explore the uncharted terrain, but what about the fashion? We all know looking good is Final Fantasy 14’s true endgame, and the latest patch drops a bombshell that’ll make it easier than ever. So if you’ve been asking for even more color in your virtual wardrobe, Square Enix has heard your call.
The headliner of Final Fantasy 14 patch 7.21 is Cosmic Exploration. This new crafter and gatherer feature is all about working with your server to explore the universe in search of new stars. Supported by the adorable Loporrits, you bring life to these planets by finding resources and expanding a base camp. While the 7.x series will introduce new stars to explore, you’re starting with just the Source’s moon.
If you don’t have any crafters or gatherers in the MMO yet, don’t worry, you just need to get any of the relevant jobs to level ten before you can start Cosmic Exploration. This means you can easily jump in with the rest of your server, and even level up plenty of your different jobs while doing so.
But that’s not why any of us are here, is it? 7.21 is brimming with new fashion capabilities, turning Dawntrail’s two-dye system up a notch with even more colorful combinations. You’ve got 11 new dyes to use, all of which are likely tied to Cosmic Exploration in some way. With the sheer breadth of two-dye channel cosmetics available in Dawntrail, the number of possibilities is about to skyrocket.
There’s also a new Loporrit parasol, and two new facewear items to collect. So if you want to match up the summer vibes with even more accessories, you easily can. Cosmic Exploration itself also appears to come with a new mech-inspired mount and a cute little space rover minion, if you want to look the part while expanding our reach across the stars.
